Wiltshire. One county across. To Devizes. To Lucie and Matt and their frankly wonderful farm wedding.
Out of the park, that’s what today was. On every level.
So we begin at Lucie’s parents’ house. A house bursting with activity. Flower girls to the fore. Hair and makeup. Lucie’s brothers’ wives and girlfriends all present and correct. The brothers themselves bouncing between the house and the venue. Lucie at the centre of it….
To Matt’s family farm for the rest of the day. After the rain of the week an actual dry day, and the outdoor ceremony we’d all hoped for (and that Matt was convinced we wouldn’t get). The softest light as well. That always makes me happy. Today just made me happy to be honest.
It couldn’t fail to really. All the ingredients were before me. Cracking venues. Brilliant people. Good weather. Great food and drink. And Lucie and Matt.
One hell of a couple. They found me through the lovely Jess and Sammy, another outdoor wedding in Wiltshire back in 2013. There’s something about this area and the people here that I love. Warm, relaxed, generous and just there to have the best day they can.
Lucie. A classic beauty. Elegant, funny and the yin to Matt’s yang. I heard her described as an English Rose by a guest at the wedding. I can’t disagree with that at all.
Matt. Possibly the most laid-back person I’ve met. A massive smile. I watched him walking around like the proudest man alive. A face that lit up when he looked at Lucie.
Pretty much the perfect day then, and pretty much the perfect couple.
Thank you both. Today was a blast. Today was all yours…..this is your story.
