Just sneaking into Autumn, and what a day to be a wedding photographer at Gate Street Barn - Lucy + Ian's wedding was a heady mix of love, laughter, joy, music, dancing and a whole lot of sparklers...
We're deep into the 2021 season here. I think I had 3 left for the year after this, so it was the home straight. Wedding number 37 of 40 in a chaotic 7 months, but when a couple like rock up and show the world how to throw a party then who wouldn't want to photograph it? Luckily for me, I was chosen to do just that.
From the first time Lucy + Ian chatted over Zoom I knew today would be pretty special. They're an incredibly elegant couple, but with a fierce streak of mayhem running through. That mix gave us today, and a barn full of souls bouncing off the walls together. It was pretty much perfect from start to finish. The weather was kind on the day, and stayed dry when it mattered. The food and drink top-drawer. The music and ceilidh (and by the way, how mental are they?) off the charts. The people just the ones you'd want around you. Just a large slice of yes. God I love this job, and the people I am lucky enough to share these days with. To Lucy and Ian, and the people you love, thank you all.
Gate Street, what can I say? We've known each other for a decade now, and the place you have in my heart is now even stronger. J'adore. It's always like coming home.
