June, and what a time to be a wedding photographer at Farnham Castle - Lou + Eamon's perfectly intimate day showing us what love is, what it means and how it can beat just about anything.
Wonderful people, wonderful weather, wonderful food and drink. Oh, and am extremely gorgeous pupper by the name of Bouki. As I've said before - More. Dogs. At. Weddings. Please. Actually just more of them everywhere.
Today wasn't a wedding delayed by COVID - instead it was one accelerated and brought forward. It was booked at pretty short notice, and in the 15 years I've been doing this job now that's always a sign that the day will be about all the things that matter. Family, friends, health, and freedom. I would have written freedom from the cursed pandemic, but as I type this the horrors being visited on Ukraine by Putin and his swivel-eyed idiocy are front and centre. What this awful news does bring is the realisation, as if that were really needed after the last two year, that life is short and precious.
Lou and Eamon brought all of the ingredients, and those present gathered them up and turned them into a truly fantastic day. No drama, no egos. Just two people bring their lives together and forming a new family. The love they have for one another is so, so obvious to see, and to be amongst this once more after all the waiting, uncertainty and just sheer bewilderment of recent months, today was what really mattered. It delivered in spades, and how. Like I said at the very beginning, this was a hell of a day to be a wedding photographer at Farnham Castle.
Lou and Eamon, what a bloody honour it was to be there with you both. Thank you for picking me, and I hope you have the most amazing life together.
