I’m going to put this right out there. I love Ben and Stephen. They are the most wonderful couple. I absolutely adored shooting this wedding.
There. That’s said and done. Now I can get to the details and talk about this quite amazing day at Wasing Park, a terrific Berkshire venue just 8 miles from my house. It’s a lovely place to work and shoot at. Lots of options. Stunning grounds that look good at any time of year but really sing in Autumn. Space to move and breathe. And note perfect for a wedding like this. Massive thanks to those alongside me today. To Gemma and her team at Galloping Gourmet as always. Superb organisation and food from the absolute top drawer. And to my friend Linz aka The White Horse Flower Company. I have Linz to thank for being at this wedding as it was her recommendation that led Ben and Stephen to me. So a huge thank you for that, as always. And for the most incredible floristry on the day. Ben and Stephen didn’t want ‘flowers’. They wanted rustic and autumnal and antlers. Linz delivered their vision in spades. Just beautiful. She really is very, very good.
So yes, it’s a gay wedding. I’ll be honest though, I don’t really care for that term. To me it’s just a wedding. I don’t really see a distinction between gay and straight. I just see two people deeply in love, regardless of gender. That’s really all that matters isn’t it? Ben and Stephen, two people deeply in love.
Dressed in bespoke clothing as they walked together down the aisle, each outfit perfectly reflecting their personalities, Ben and Stephen are meant to be together. They spend most of their time taking the mickey out of each other, as it should be, but there is no doubting the deep, unbreakable love they have for one another. With their families looking on they cemented this before the people who mean the most to them, and then had a damn good party to celebrate. This is exactly what a wedding should be. Get rid of the fluff. Get the people you want there. Commit. Party.
Now I’m going to shut up. I’ve gone on long enough. Time to tell their story through photography.
Ben. Stephen. I loved being there with you both. You rock. This is your story…..
