One. Hell. Of. A. Day.
And one hell of a couple. Step forward Emily and Alex. My word, today was something else, and that was entirely down to the incredible couple at the centre of things. More about them a little later.
So, after a week spent looking nervously at the weather forecast I set off down the M3 and across the New Forest. When we Skyped a few weeks back I had an idea that I’d get a warm welcome. I wasn’t really prepared for how warm. Greeted like an old friend by Emily and her folks, and by bridesmaids Kim and Danielle, that just confirmed that I was amongst the most genuine of people.
A short drive from here and it was over to their lovely venue for the day, The Old Vicarage in Hinton. Despite all the gloomy forecasts for rain the outdoor ceremony plans went ahead and we had all the sun. Blue skies much? That’s the sort of forecast I don’t mind being wrong. A huge thank you to all at the venue for the hard work and help today. Also massive thanks to Alex’s groomsmen Matt, Toby and Luke. A stellar job all.
But I’ve rambled enough, so let’s talk about Emily and Alex. They met in Guildford on Emily’s birthday a few years back. Alex is as laid-back as they come. Or so he thought until that evening. He told me ‘there was something about her and that changed everything’. Seeing them together made that much obvious. They couldn’t fit better than they do, it’s really that simple. I’d say that whatever it was he saw in her, Emily saw just as much in him. She just shone all day, and that was all for him.
This is yet another couple who I watched just melt into each other. I don’t think Alex will mind me saying that he shed a few tears as Emily walked down the aisle. That’s never a bad thing. Proper emotion and love boils over into that sometimes. It’s what real men do.
Like I said above, hell of a day and a hell of a couple.
Emily and Alex. Thank you for inviting me in and for showing me who you are. I had a blast. This is your story….
