2019 is shaping up to be a year of most excellent weddings. It’s deep into the main part of the season now so it’s time for Lily and Troy’s incredible day at The Long Barn in Alton. Magnificent from beginning to end and a large slice of The Long Barn wedding photography is coming your way below……
We begin down near Southampton at Lily’s parents’ gorgeous home. I arrived to find a house full of activity and the excellent Claire Hayes and Michelle Crosser on make-up and hair duties. We were set for some wonderful weather, and pretty much perfect for a wedding. A huge thank you to all of Lily’s bridesmaids for being brilliant fun all day (and that awesome rap/speech), and to her parents for the warmth of their welcome. From here it was a short drive up to Winchester and to the stunning Hospital of St Cross for the second time this year. All of the emotion for Troy as Lily walked down the aisle. Real men do cry. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Emerging to perfect sunlight we headed for Newton Valence and the beautiful Long Barn.
It was my first time shooting here, and I hope it won’t be the last. It’s a gorgeous venue with some stunning light inside, and hidden away in the Hampshire countryside. The brilliant Kate from Katrina Otter Weddings who was running things on the day. We’ve worked together before and it’s always great fun. Thanks Kate! The barn looked beautiful and Duchess & Butler had nailed the decor as they always do. The weather continued to do its thing and the day flowed perfectly. If you look closely you can spot the current King of the Jungle….
Fantastic speeches. A brilliant performance by the bridesmaids. The most perfect evening light. A dancefloor filled by the superb Gatsby. A day that had it all.
Right at the centre, of course, Lily and Troy. The absolute definition of what love is, and what a life together will mean. Warmth, humour, elegance. I loved them, and I loved this wedding. What a privilege this job is….
