The Barn at Bury Court. Back for the second week on the bounce and another absolute monster of a day. I love this place. And I loved Jo and Jamie.
Here’s why.
They. Just. Chilled.
All day long. They got it. Everyone there got it. From the most excellent bridesmaids (notwithstanding the shame of them having different coloured toenail varnish – aka #toegate). To the superbly funny Best Men. To the incredibly warm families and friends who took their places alongside Jo and Jamie. To Tessa and Suzanne at the Barn. To Phern and her team at the wonderful Jacaranda. And yes I realise that I say this about every wedding at this terrific venue, but that’s simply because it’s true. Familiarity does not lessen the love I have for working at this place. Light. Shade. Warmth. Colour. Impact. It has the lot.
It also has a remarkable ability to attract couples who I absolutely love working with. And on that front Jo and Jamie hit the spot from the moment I met them. Yet another couple who just trusted me to do what I do without stress or drama. And there’s a definite relationship with doing that and the end product. In a word they are immense.
Elegant, cultured, beautifully dressed and utterly in love with each other. Yes we got lucky again with the weather. Yes the venue offers so much. Yes the guests played their parts. But so much of what happened in front of me today came from Jo and Jamie. I document the day. I photograph what’s before me. But working with people like this it takes on real meaning. I’m lucky that this seems to happen weekly but every time it does I thank whoever is in charge for this job (and it really doesn’t feel like a job with days like this).
Jo. Jamie. Man I loved you both. You nailed it. What an absolute joy it was to be there with you both. Thank you so much.
This is your day.
