Oh Liz and Jonny. What a day! What a couple you are. Settle in for an absolute smasher of some Tewin Bury Farm wedding photography.
We begin where we’d be for the day, in a lovely part of Hertfordshire, and after remarkably traffic-free drive up the M3 and M25, to a house absolutely bursting with activity. The door opened to a beaming Liz and that was pretty much fixed to her face for the day. Liz and Jonny found me via the bloody amazing Rebecca (I shot her and Dom’s wedding in Hampshire in 2015) and this was the 4th couple from the same circle of friends with weddings in 2011, 2015, 1016 and now 2018. That same group also brought the ace Makeup by Katy into my wedding world and she was killing it on make-up duties today. Completing the set was Tom from Storybook Films on video for the day, another absolutely top-drawer colleague to work alongside. Phew!
A massive thank you to Liz’s bridesmaids right here – to Rebecca, just because I love her and Dom, and Louise and Emily – for being such an absolute scream. Likewise to Jonny’s chaps – Jamie, Christopher and Daniel. When I skyped with Liz and Jonny a few weeks ahead of the day it was pretty obvious this wedding would be total fun from start to finish, and so it was. Utterly chilled, clearly hugely loved by their friends and family, determined to throw a massive party and then just smash it out of the park. There was obviously no actual park, but if there had been…..smashing would have occurred.
Liz and Jonny have an amazing story. Close friends since school, they finally got together years later and they are welded together. Soulmates, childhood sweethearts, call it what you will. They seem to exist as one unit. That closeness over the years built and built until the platonic shackles were thrown off and now they have a wonderful family. This, people, is what love looks like. To be there to photograph it is…….well it’s just the ultimate privilege really. When it’s a group of people you’ve already spent some time with it just ramps up the feels by a factor of 100.
Feels is a good word for today. It had all of them. They’re below for you to see.
Liz and Jonny, thank you so bloody much. I couldn’t have asked for more and you couldn’t have been more brilliant. Just thank you…..
