And we’re off. 2016 is GO.
After a few weeks break we’re back, and this time in the depths of Surrey with the pretty wonderful Emily and Pete. A freezing cold day, but a dry one, and an absolute blast from start to finish.
I met Emily and Pete back in 2014 at Jo and Dave’s wedding (and it was so good to see them again). Emily wasn’t too keen on being photographed…….but we got on well and we had a lot of fun that day. I was pretty chuffed when she mailed me a few weeks later to ask if I’d shoot her wedding. An instant yes from me, and here we were on an icy day in East Horsley. Jo, as you’d expect, was on bridesmaid duty alongside the lovely Jade. A massive thank you to both for being utterly brilliant throughout.
From East Horsley onto Wonnersh, and a quite lovely ceremony. Pete’s dream car as a wedding car, and a surprise for him as they left the church. The cold meant a swift departure onto Wotton House near Dorking. A race against time before we lost the light and massive kudos to Emily and Pete for braving the cold so we could get what we needed. Afternoon tea instead of a formal meal, and a doubling of the guests for the evening party.
Emily’s life, apart from Pete, is her horses. She lives for them and all around her parent’s house were reminders of this. She’s turned this love into her career and it’s incredible to see how she cares for them. I suspect she’ll take that love and care into the marriage, making Pete a very lucky man. She hates having her photo taken. She is very, very photogenic. A conflict I’ve seen before, and always from people who have no idea how well they photograph. Today she needed no guidance, no direction. And nailed it from start to finish.
Pete is an incredibly warm and funny man. You can’t help but like him. In Emily he’s found his life partner, and in him Emily has found hers. A very special couple indeed. No artifice, no ego. Just genuine, real and a pleasure to be with.
Emily. Pete. I loved every minute. Thank you. It might have been freezing cold, but your warmth punched through that all day. It was perfect.
This is your day.
