Brilliant. One word to describe Elly and Andy’s wedding. I could have used plenty more. Words like warmth, laughter, emotion, tenderness, family, love. They’d all have worked.
My first time at the absolutely beautiful Rivervale Barn and I’m hoping not my last. It’s pretty local for me, and run by an absolutely stellar team of people. Massive thanks must go to Michaela, Jill and Rachel and all at Galloping Gourmet. I work with them at several venues and they’re always first-class.
Elly and Andy found me through the lovely Lindsey (aka The White Horse Flower Company, and you can see a day I spent with Lindsey here) so equally massive thanks here as well. As always just ludicrously gorgeous flowers from this very talented florist. Lindsey was there as I arrived and Elly breezed in just minutes later surrounded by her bridesmaids and oldest friends.
Those bridesmaids. Andy’s daughters Lotty and Frankie. Mature well beyond their years and if I raise my own daughter to be anything like these girls I’ll have done a good job. I’ve seen a lot of weddings now, but I almost lost it when they walked down the aisle and both hugged Andy. The love between them is palpable, intense and very, very special. This was a beautiful ceremony.
Stunning gardens played host to the reception. A lazy weekday afternoon that could only have been in England. But I really need to talk about this couple.
This couple that shows that true happiness can occur at any point in a life. To see the way that Elly looked at Andy during the ceremony screamed ‘The is THE ONE’. To witness the utter tenderness that Andy shows when he’s with Elly. Special, special days that are a privilege to be a part of and to photograph.
Andy reminds me of my step-father. Old-school, and that’s a massive compliment. A proper gentleman with the emphasis on gentle. Rocking an absolutely magnificent jacket. You cannot help but like this man.
Elly. A force of nature. Infectious sense of humour. Endless smiles and laughs. It’s no surprise to see why Andy fell for her, and vice versa. Ying to his yang. You know what I’m talking about.
They found each other. Last week they committed to a life together. I had the honour of documenting it for them. Thank you both, so so much.
This is your day.
