Where do I start with Catherine and Patrick. Physically I was in Westminster, but mentally I was in another place entirely, watching an absolutely fantastic couple bringing friends and family together from just about every corner of the world. If wealth is measured in friends then Catherine and Patrick are surely the richest on Earth.
We begin at Catherine and Patrick’s flat in Westminster after a remarkably smooth train journey in. Greeted by three beautiful bridesmaids and Catherine wearing a quite stunning dress. Skype calls to Australia and Catherine’s Dad, sadly unable to be there in person but undoubtedly there in spirit. St Stephen’s church, quite literally around the corner waited, filling with guests and a groom waiting for his bride. That short walk done, and the ceremony was ready. A quite beautiful service from a vicar who clearly knows Catherine and Patrick well.
Next up the RAC Club in Pall Mall. Pretty much the perfect venue for this wedding and this couple. Elegant, timeless and classy. Guests stopped to admire Stirling Moss’s 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB in the reception hall, by all accounts valued at a cool £7 million. Crikey. The reception flew by and I was given the honour of sitting with guests for the meal – a special thank you here to Viv, Tom, Debbie, Estee and Tjeerd for their warmth and terrific conversation. Lovely people at a lovely wedding. A terrific set of speeches from Andrew, Patrick and Pete with a finishing first dance to the solo pianist present all day.
This is another day where doors were thrown open and friends welcomed in. Catherine and Patrick have their lives together, split between their London home and their stunning vineyard in France. They also have the most incredible friends and family, and to share this day was both an honour and a privilege. Sláinte to you all.
