Can you say cold? Can you say Notley Abbey wedding photography? Alternatively, can you say warm? The two opposites, both in full effect today at the beautiful Notley Abbey for the utterly brilliant Rachel and Seb and my penultimate wedding of the 2017 season….
So, let me start at that long drive down the tree-lined avenue towards what was once Lawrence Olivier and Vivien Leigh’s home in the stunning Buckinghamshire countryside, now of course a venue for lovely people like Rachel and Seb. The car temperature gauge read a balmy 2c and it didn’t get much above that all day. No matter. The sun was shining hard, the skies a flawless blue, and the day gave the perfect English winter look. Inside the warmth fairly bounced down the stairs as I made my way up towards Rachel and her girls. The light of the sun matched by the laughter I could hear from a fair way off.
Busy doing their thing were the excellent Linz and Meghan from The White Horse Flower Company, the second time in 3 weeks I’d had the pleasure of working with them. A big thank you also to Phillipa and Lisa from Notley for all of their help making the day run smoothly. Also to the excellent band Hipster who smashed the doors off the party and who I could hear as I closed the door to my car some 10 hours after arriving. Finally to the brilliant magician/MC Spencer Wood, superb at what he does and a very funny man to have around.
Seb looked nervous, but that soon fell away the moment he saw Rachel walk towards him. They entered engaged, and left together married. 120 people were waiting with confetti and massive respect to Rachel and Seb for braving the cold to make sure we made the most of the light whilst we had it. Back inside to warm up and those 120 guests were full of embraces and well wishes. A wonderful meal and speeches from the top drawer, with special mention to Seb’s Best Man, Tom, for one that had me doubled up at points. Some more down time and then the party could begin.
I loved Rachel and Seb. You couldn’t wish to meet a more relaxed couple who just enjoyed every moment of their day together with those who matter most around them. No drama, just world-class senses of humour and a fierce love for one another. These are the days, they truly are.
2017 has just one left for me to blog after this, but today is all about Rachel and Seb. Thank you both so much, and this is your story.
