Midelney Manor wedding photography
Pinch me, this can't actually be my job. Surely not....surely I can't be so lucky as to get couples like Chloe and Ed booking me for their Midelney Manor wedding photography. It's only made better by the fact that I'd shot Chloe's sister Lydia's marriage to Jonny just a few miles down the road back in those heady pre-pandemic days of 2019.
So it was with a full heart that I found myself back at their parents' beautiful home deep in Somerset and greeted with the warmest of welcomes. Chloe and her bridesmaids were in full prep mode, with Lydia and Jonny helping out. Today always promised much but I didn't, even then, realise quite how much it would deliver. And so I drove to the stunning Midelney Manor with an even fuller heart. What a venue that is - superbly run by Alice and her team (it is her home after all) and I'm delighted that I'm now on their recommended supplier list. I hope to be back very soon.
Blessed with perfect weather, a wonderful group of family and friends, Chloe and Ed cemented their lives together and the day flowed into the best kind of party. To see how close Chloe and Lydia are was quite something, and Lydia summed it up perfectly on an Instagram post:
"Of two sisters, one is always the watcher, one the dancer. This weekend that beautiful dancer got married in all the sparkle and happiness and joy that she deserved. Thank you Ed for taking her hand and always dancing with her. For loving her and her perfect imperfections so completely. Chloe, you're not my best friend, you are my sister and that is more"
I may have cried at that.
For my part I was just thrilled to read this as they returned from honeymoon:
"We are absolutely blown away by all the photos. There were a lot of tears going through them. It’s like you froze time on our perfect day and we are so grateful. Thank you for putting us at ease and becoming an extended member of the family as well as capturing everything we wanted.
We really couldn’t be more happy that we chose you as our photographer! You're just the bloody best.
Thank you so so much...."
The extended family bit is a comment from Chloe and Lydia's Dad, Steve, as I left that evening. Just when I thought my heart couldn't possibly fill any more. It turns out I was wrong about that.
Incredible people and the most incredible day. Pinch me, I must be dreaming.
You'll find all my superb colleagues on the day at the bottom of this post - a special mention to Shelly and her team at Eden Blooms for the most incredible flowers.
