Another absolute cracker of a London wedding. Vicki and Damien (aka Damo), and this is Part 1, with the post-wedding party coming up next.
So, let’s focus on this absolutely terrific day first. A day that began early at The Connaught where I again met up with the wonderful Louise Perry, ace wedding planner. Vicki had just returned from her hair appointment, and Hollie was busy with make-up. Vicki’s gorgeous daughter Ella was looking on (and a special mention to Ella here for being Flower Girl of the Year and for her endless ability to shine for the camera, something she shares with her Mum….). Prep complete, Jenny Packham and Jimmy Choos on. Jaw on the floor. Stunning Vicki, just stunning.
A short taxi hop over to Chelsea Town Hall for the ceremony, and Damien waiting. Absolutely killing it in the most perfect suit. Looking every inch the London groom. Their son Louis watching on. An intimate group of just 25 or so watched the ceremony unfold, as this family of four became even closer. It’s hard to think of a more elegant setting, or a more elegant couple.
Battersea Park called. The guests headed over to Gordon Ramsay’s London House while we made the most of a surprisingly empty park. Wonderful skies, just the right light, and a couple who just came alive together. I think they might have surprised themselves. We’ve a fair amount in common, with both Vicki and Danien being massively keen cyclists like me (strictly speaking Vicki’s a triathlete). Maybe that helped, but in reality I think they’re just so comfortable together I couldn’t fail to get the best out of them.
Damien. An Aussie who’s made his home and life in London and who is great fun. He doesn’t think he looks good in a suit – I’ve yet to see anyone wear one better.
Vicki. An absolute gem. Beautiful, elegant and with a fierce determination. Jenny Packham could have designed the dress with Vicki in mind.
Together they’re some team. Remarkably successful in their careers, and even more so with their family. Warm, funny and gregarious. In short an absolute joy to work with. I only wish I’d had longer to get to know them more.
Like I said, this is part 1, with the party to follow. What a way to start……
