So here we are then, at the magnificent Hedsor House, with the equally brilliant Karen and Mike as New Zealand meets England. The second of this weekend, and the second where it stayed DRY. Quite a couple, quite a venue, quite a day. Hedsor House wedding photography here we come.
After the day before on the Hampshire/Surrey border it was up and right a bit today, and a dive into Buckinghamshire. Hedsor is a stunning building, and a fitting location for that Anglo-Kiwi union with many from the latter having made the long trip around the globe. I’d met Karen and Mike a few weeks earlier for their pre-wedding shoot when it was so cold we all went blue at the end. Today was a fair bit warmer and the scene was set for a fantastic day.
Prep was well underway as I arrived, and a sense of quiet calm gave an early indication of the relaxed atmosphere we’d have all day. Karen and her girls upstairs, Jenny Packham and Jimmy Choo waiting patiently for the knock-out final look. I don’t think Karen could have picked better. Mike and his chaps finishing up downstairs before a short walk across to the church in the Hedsor grounds. Big thanks go out to all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen – to Kendra and Helen, and to Iain, Dan, David and Ian. Great to meet you all!
After the lovely ceremony it was back up to Hedsor for the remainder of the day. Fantastic drinks and food from Eve and her team at Dish. Huge thanks to them as always, and to Tricia at Hedsor for all of her help. Karen and Mike killing it during the couple photos (yet another couple who were nervous about this bit and who absolutely slayed it). Wonderfully emotional speeches. Drinks. Dancing. All of the things then.
Plus, of course, Karen and Mike. As I said at the beginning, quite the couple. Not showy, not flash. Just quiet elegance and an easy tenderness. My sort of people. My sort of wedding. I loved it.
A marriage that came together across a huge distance, and one with so much more to come. Thank you both for the honour of being there with you. This is your story.
