Twice inside a year for some Hampshire winter wedding photography, and Grace + Ali’s COVID delayed wedding finally gave them the day they wanted, exactly 365 days after their smaller micro-wedding. I was lucky enough to be there for both.
This was a wedding with a sense of déjà-vu but with a whole new story of its own. The home, church (and vicar), dresses, suits and some of the people might have been the same, but in many ways today showed us exactly how far the world has come in that year. The first wedding was my final of 2020, and it was that day that we heard that Xmas was cancelled, and with it would come another enforced 5 month break from my beloved job. I remember standing in the hallway with Ali that day, just about to leave, as the news came through and all of our Xmas plans were in tatters. Fast-forward those 365 days and here we all were – triple-jabbed, somehow dodging Omicron, and a honeymoon planned for these two that actually went ahead and happened. Abroad. In the sun. Like the old days. As I type this we are just two days away from all of the final restrictions ending. It’s been an agonisingly long 2 years, but finally, light beckons.
If you read the micro-wedding post from last year you’d know that Grace is an event planner and is now full-time doing that. Today was something of a demonstration of what she can do, and it was bloody impressive.
One year later and Grace + Ali are every inch a couple made for each other. Nothing had changed, except today there were 150 pairs of eyes watching them instead of 15. Last year was small, intimate and wonderful. Today was large, a massive party, and also wonderful.
Twice, in a year. How lucky was I?…..
