The first of three weddings in three days, and it’s the bloody brilliant Rachel and Jon at the splendid Gaynes Park in Essex.
One very special couple indeed. How can you fail to love people who opt for a Krispy Kreme’s wedding cake? Answer – you can’t.
So, after a remarkably smooth trip around the M25, Epping loomed before me and skies that, whilst moody, stayed dry. Sublime flowers dressing the orangery and for the girls by Lily & May. A day run to perfection by Jane at the ever-excellent Galloping Gourmet. Thanks to all of you. You smashed it as you always do.
Thanks also to the superb bridesmaids and groomsmen. Holly, Mairi, Laura, Marta, Eleanor, David, Martin, Matthew, Ben and Joel. Lovely to meet you all. A genuinely great bunch of people.
And to the main event. The wonderful Rachel and Jon. A couple who exude warmth, humour and a massive sense of fun. I warmed to them the moment we met. Their love for each other so very clear to see and so very obviously built to last. Foundations of solid rock for these two. No doubt about that, nor about the life that they have together. A couple who have the world at the feet.
Although I’m a photographer I’m also drawn to words. Rarely my own it has to be said. But when I photograph each couple I usually see the essence of them, if only briefly. But it’s enough for me to call back words I love and which I think fit them. For Rachel and Jon it’s EE Cummings:
“Yours is the light by which my spirit’s born – you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars.”
May those words carry you together for the most beautiful life together. And thank you for being the people you are…..
