Wow. Just wow.
Merry and Matt and day spent with people who just knocked it out of the park. Just wow. Farnham you looked pretty beautiful today.
Merry and I met back in 2013 when I photographed the lovely wedding of Claire and Neil. That was a very special day, and this one didn’t let us down. It all took place at the gorgeous home of Merry’s parents, and Will, her father, had recently managed to buy the large field at the back. That become home to both the ceremony and some fairly competitive cricket as the shadows lengthened that evening. I love home weddings. They’re always incredibly relaxed, probably because it’s an environment everyone knows and feels comfortable in. That was certainly the case today.
So we begin with Merry and her bridesmaids, all huge fun. A massive thanks to Meg, Izzy, Ella, Amy, Claire and Charlotte. Also to Nicola and Will for making me feel so welcome in their lovely home. We could see guests arriving from the windows, and the excitement was palpable. Matt was just downstairs, and an equally big thank you to his groomsmen Owen, Tim and Paul.
With 120 or so gathered in the marquee at the top of the field it was just a short walk up for Merry (and I think she was most nervous about this part of the day). A wonderful ceremony and equally lovely music led us down the afternoon reception in the beautiful gardens. The atmosphere was one of absolute joy and happiness, and it’s clear that Merry and Matt are loved by many.
If you met them you’d know why. Merry doesn’t stop smiling. She’s a gentle soul, elegant and graceful. Matt adores her, and I’d guess that was the case from the moment they met at Uni. It was mentioned in a speech that their friends always thought they’d get married, and they weren’t wrong. They are a terrific couple. Warm, funny, no artifice or edge. Just two people in love with a wonderful life ahead of them. It’s particularly lovely when a bridesmaid or groomsmen from a previous wedding books you for their wedding. Today was no exception to that. I loved every minute with the people you see below.
Merry and Matt, thank you so much for inviting me in and for sharing your day with me. It was a blast. This, then, is your story……
