So, Farnham Castle twice in just under three weeks and another absolute smasher, with another utterly brilliant couple. Today was all about Susie and Oly, and man did they kill it. I’m beginning to run out of superlatives for this year and the couples I’m just so incredibly lucky to work with. I’ll try to find some new ones for Susie and Oly….
Here we go then…..a Thursday in October, and I doubt the castle has looked better that in the last few weeks. After some fairly ropey summer weather, it’s been pretty much perfect this autumn. Those colours. That light. Somebody pinch me, or at least give me this every week. Give me fellow suppliers like this every week as well. Huge thanks to all of my colleagues today. To Heather, Sean and the team at the Castle. To Hannah on videography duties. To Jodie at The Little Violet. To all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen for their help and laughs. To all of the guests for knowing how to party.
It’s a gorgeous venue to work at, that much should be obvious. History everywhere. Gorgeous light throughout. Stunning colours in the gardens. Space to move and breathe. A feeling that the people there care. It clearly attracts couples that are a great fit for me. Relaxed, easy to work with, boxes are ticked from start to finish. Today was no different. Those warm, sunlit tones echoed throughout the castle and it felt like they came from Susie and Oly. That the sun shone for them was so, so fitting.
They are a truly special couple. Yet again I found myself working with a couple utterly free of drama or pretence. We had a blast, and as always it shows when I start work on the photos. They love each other dearly, that isn’t hard to see. But there’s more to them than that. Call it soul-mates if you prefer. I’m not sure there’s one label that neatly describes them. It’s just a sense of ‘right’. A sense of something that’s just meant to be.
A sense that here, before us all, were two individuals who truly became one. A life opens up ahead, one that’s already begun but which can now scale new heights and reach out for all of their days.
A true privilege, that’s this job. With couples like Susie and Oly it becomes an honour as well. This is your story…..
