Well hello December, and hello a beautiful, bright and cold post of some Cowdray House wedding photography.
Today saw Rachel and John finally getting their perfect day, exactly one year later than planned due to, oh yes, the sodding pandemic. No matter in the end though, because this was magnificent. Cowdray House is always one of my favourite weddings to photograph at, and today just confirmed why (and I'm lucky enough to be a recommended photographer there).
I arrived, on my birthday no less, to bright winter sun, and laughter already echoing around the halls. Rachel and her girls upstairs with the brilliant Gemma Sutton, and John and his chaps downstairs whilst Sam and the team at Cowdray, and Andy and his team at the superb Caper & Berry were making the place look note-perfect for a Christmas wedding.
From Cowdray we were off to Petworth - traffic meant I hopped on the bus with the guests - and a gorgeous ceremony amidst the town's Christmas market. A swift hack back to Cowdray, this time in with the best man and John's car, and the usual winter wedding 'race against the light' to shoot the couple and groups (and kudos to all for braving the cold for these bits). Wonderful speeches, genuinely heartfelt and funny. Dancing with suits of armour. All topped off with fireworks, a surprise from Rachel to John where I spent the day trying to avoid mentioning it.
In all, one hell of way to start the last month of a frankly mental 2021 wedding photography season. As ever I am hugely grateful that I'm lucky enough for couples like Rachel and John to book me. They're absolutely made for one another and brought humour, elegance and a damn good party to Cowdray House. How good did they look eh?
