Absolutely KILLED it. That was my thought as I drove away from The Barn at Bury Court last Friday. Behind me were the new Mr and Mrs Pentony and a barn full of brilliance.
As is normal on this website, let me begin at the beginning. In this case the quite stunning home of Jann and Campbell, Sophie’s parents, in Guildford. Jann is an interior designer and my jaw was on the floor from the moment I arrived. What a home, what an eye. Sharon Roberts and Natasha Wiggins were already working their magic on hair and make-up respectively (top job as always ladies). They were working on an ace set of bridesmaids – Phoebe, Emma, Luci, Alana. Thank you. Much laughter (and a special mention to Emma’s patented ‘freeze when I see the camera’ efforts throughout the day).
From Guildford to Bury Court amidst some tortuously slow traffic. An arrival to find Sean looking as sharp as a sushi knife, and some fellow dapper chaps in black ties. Kudos for this. It always looks classy and today was no exception. A thank you here to Nick, Mark, David and Ed. Great work all, and a thank you to Mr Lamptey for some excellent MC’ing. A massive thank you as always to Jacaranda for stunning food and today I had the pleasure of the ace Tori AND Nicola. Love you both. Flowers by the ludicrously gifted Jay Archer (twice in 6 days for me with this lady).
But I need to talk about Sophie and Sean. When I saw Sophie walk out in her dress. WOW. Jaw on the floor once more. I don’t think Sophie actually realises what a looker she is (Sean sure does though), or that she has a pair of seriously killer eyes. This girl looked 10 million dollars. Sassi Holford hasn’t dressed a better bride than this one. She and Sean fit so very well. They’re bloody good fun. They don’t have any airs and graces. They simply radiate good times and that was reflected by the people they had with them. They know what really matters. Friends. Family. Good food and drink. A party with posh frocks. I’m a very lucky man to have couples like this book me. I know that. But having couples like this makes my job feel anything but work. It feels like an invitation into a world where everyone knows your name. I’m channeling Cheers here, and showing my age. Forgive me.
This was, quite simply, a superb day that promised much and delivered even more. I thank you all, but Sophie and Sean I thank you the most. You are my kind of people, and this is your story….
