So here we are, my penultimate wedding of 2015 and a real high-point of the year. My daughter saw me editing this, saw Lauren and said ‘she is SO cool, is she a model’. I can’t really argue with that….you’ll see what she meant below.
Easily the coldest wedding of the year, but Lauren and Nick absolutely nailed it all day long. Just brilliant.
Starting at The Aviator in Farnborough and brides, the light in their rooms is sublime. Prep here is A Good Idea. A huge thank you to Lauren’s Mum, Gillian, and her bridesmaids, Lucy, Carla, Nicola and Leigh-Anne for excellent laughs throughout the day and for some serious efforts despite that fierce and biting wind. Also a thank you here to John and Jenny from John Harris Media, on videography duties for the day. Another great example of a video team it’s a pleasure to work alongside. Superb work from Kristina Gasperas and her team on hair and make-up.
Over to St Mary’s Church in Bentley, just around the corner from Bury Court and my favourite vicar Jan. A very funny man, and when asked where I could stand he replied ‘wherever you like. It’s their wedding not mine, so get the best you can for them’. If Carlsberg made vicars…..a beautiful ceremony and I swear I actually saw Nick stop breathing for a moment when Lauren walked in. Can you blame him? Stunning much? Lovely to run into the delightful Hannah Berry, florist extraordinaire and Lauren’s choice for the day. Brides-to-be, you need to talk to this girl about your flowers.
Onwards to Bury Court for the rest of the day. Some unbelievably wonderful light at any time of the year, let alone mid November. Soft, warm, flattering and whoever arranged that, thank you. It might have been cold, but my word we got lucky. Thanks here to Ellie and Tessa at the barn as always. To Phern, the new event manager for Jacaranda who I instantly warmed to and look forward to seeing there again next year, and to George alongside her. I can’t fault this venue or the people working there. It just has everything. Love it. Love them. Thanks to Tim for a damn fine speech as Best Man.
My last of the year here, and I could not have asked for a better bride and groom than Lauren and Nick.
Nick. Aka Clive. Funny, always smiling, just bathing in the day and clearly a hugely popular man. You cannot fail to like him.
Lauren. When we met for their pre-wedding shoot a couple of months back she mentioned she didn’t think she was photogenic. I laughed thinking about that during this edit. I said stunning earlier in this post. It doesn’t seem sufficient really. She glowed. Really, properly glowed. And looked as good as any bride I’ve had the luck to photograph. Incredible.
The Maldives is where they’ll read this. Well-deserved after braving that weather and meaning we got what we did. As I say elsewhere on this site, I can’t do what I do without people like Lauren and Nick. A highlight to any part of a wedding season, and an utterly blinding day from start to finish.
Their story then….I can’t thank you enough.
