Back at The Barn at Bury Court for the second wedding of my 2016 season and what an absolute stormer. Take a bow Ashley and Henry. Take. A. Bow.
Canada married England today. Ashley married Henry. And they absolutely killed it.
First let’s get the weather out of the way. It rained, all day. It was cold, all day. It didn’t matter one bit, all day. And we have all the people to thank for that.
My colleagues on the day. Ellena, Tessa and Suzanne at The Barn. Jacaranda, and especially Phern, as always for their effortless front of house and superb food. James and Andre at Love Storage on videography duty, for being so easy to work with. Melanie at Heavenly Scent for her beautiful flowers.
To the bridesmaids. Emily, Bex and Jess. Huge fun all day long, many laughs were had. Thank you and remember, tuck it in Jess….
To the groomsmen. Alistair, Richard, Alex, Chris, Ian and Tom. A terrific bunch. Very easy company and thank you all.
But mainly to the reason we were all there. To Ashley and Henry. What an incredible couple you are. As you were married I looked on, and I remember thinking ‘Yes, these two are just so right for one another’. It’s so obvious to anyone who sees you together. You fit. You complete one another. It’s so, so obvious.
Ashley. You greeted me like an old friend from the moment I arrived and I don’t think you stopped smiling once for the whole day. Stunningly pretty, a quite wonderful sense of humour and you absolutely light up when Henry is beside you.
Henry. I liked you immediately. Clearly I’m not alone in that judging by the warmth people have for you. Your smiles matched that of Ashley and you exude peace and calm when she’s with you.
Thank you both. For having me there. For showing the world what you have together.
“…and when you meet someone and fall in love, and they fall in love with you, you ask them “Will you take my heart– stains and all?” and they say “I will,” and they ask you the same question and you say, “I will,” too.” – Douglas Coupland
You took each others’ hearts and said ‘I will’. We watched and our hearts soared……this is your day.
