Man. Man! What a day this was. Step forward Louise and Spencer. Talk about a party! Deep breath and dive in….
I started with Spencer, Chris and Matt at the gorgeous Old Railway Station at Petworth. What was a working station until the 1950’s has been converted into a hotel, with guests able to sleep in re-purposed Pullman carriages. How cool? Easy company from the outset and you couldn’t wish to meet three nicer chaps.
A short drive over to Louise and her girls at the equally lovely Halfway Bridge and it was there that I met up with my partner-in-crime and ace wedding videographer Ioannis from Reel Emotion. The first time we’d worked together, a genuinely nice man, and I hope it won’t be the last. Thanks man.
Louise and her girls…..what a group. Laughs all day long and Louise never, ever, stops smiling. I drove toward Bartholomew Barn, our venue for the rest of the day, knowing what a cracker was in store. I wasn’t wrong.
Louise’s arrival to a beaming Spencer, the fantastic group of friends and family, the the light in the barn, the dry weather and the great food, Matt and Rose from the excellent AKA Band. This had it all. This was a proper party at a wedding. Dancing indoors, dancing outdoors. Cocktails. The absolute works.
And at the centre of it all a very special couple in Louise and Spencer. They’ve been together for a long time, with a long list of haircuts and fashions on display on their memories wall. Yet they still retain that freshness, that need, that longing. Truly a proper love story.
HL Mencken wrote ‘”…as I look back over a misspent life, I find myself more and more convinced that I had more fun doing news reporting than in any other enterprise. It is really the life of kings.”
Change news reporting for photography, and get to work at weddings like this, with people like this, and he nailed it.
It really is the life of kings. Louise and Spencer. King and Queen for this day, thank you both. This is your story…..
