So who am I?

I’m not into staging shots. I’m mainly documentary with a few groups chucked in for Mum and Dad. I shoot all over the place, but mainly Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, London, those sorts of areas. I’ll travel though, so just ask. I’ve been voted one of the ‘Top 50 UK Wedding Photographers’. I’m still not sure what that means, or who decides. I don’t care too much. The only people who matter on that front are the ones who book me.

Why am I a wedding photographer? I’m not going to tell you I was given a camera by my Grandad at the age of 7 and that it sparked a lifelong need to be a photographer. That didn’t happen. I sort of fell into it. Did some for friends, turned out to be quite good. Did some more, got better and decided to go for it. I like people. Being with them when they marry is a bit special. Being trusted to nail their day is the ultimate gig really. We have a lot of fun together and that’s important. The day that bit stops is the day I give up. I’m good at it and, more importantly, I really enjoy it.

I'm told I'm good with people, and I use that to really connect with the couples who book me. We have a lot of fun, and I don't take myself very seriously. I take this very seriously though. It's a huge honour be to chosen to photograph days like the ones you see here.

So what do I like outside of weddings?.....

Coffee lover, dog owner, music obsessive. I was almost a lawyer but finally found my real calling

Cycling, just everything about it. I ride. A lot. I watch races. A lot. I read about cycling. A lot. I finally have my Colnago, a C64, alongside my custom steel Rusby. My bikes live in my office. Riding keeps me balanced, both literally and metaphorically.

Music. Things like The National, Admiral Fallow, Explosions in the Sky, Tindersticks, James Yorkston, King Creosote, Aesop Rock, Frightened Rabbit, Mark Kozelek, Run the Jewels, DJ Shadow, Kid Koala, Loyle Carner, Smog, Ghostpoet, Jon Hopkins, Big Thief, Max Richter, Olafur Arnalds, Novo Amor. I can get really quite nerdy about music.

Films, with Glengarry Glen Ross being my all-time favourite. Put the coffee down. Coffee is for closers. Great TV sustains me. Veep. Parks and Recreation (RIP). The Wire. Breaking Bad. Fargo. Ozark. Get Shorty. Better Call Saul. Silicon Valley. Friday Night Lights. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.

Good coffee (and for me that means a Flat White).

Dogs. give me all of the dogs (that's mine, Meg, in the photo).

Apple kit. Noise-cancelling headphones (current flavour are the superb AirPods Max and Airpods Pro 2). Whisky/Whiskey – Lagavulin, Ardbeg and Talisker single malts (yes, I like them peaty), and Redbreast from Ireland. I have far too many pairs of trainers, but there’s always room for one more and I’m a New Balance Man, specifically Made in USA 990’s (push me and I’ll opt for V4’s). I’m freakishly tidy. Rapha and Assos on-bike wear. Skiing. David Shrigley. Red Wing Boots. Grenson shoes. Wes Anderson’s films. Raymond Carver and Frank O’Hara. Proper dirty burgers. Stewart Lee. Hannah Arendt....

This is me. Or at least some of me.
