ISPWP 2010 Summer Contest – Placed in 2 categories

I’m very chuffed today.

As you’ll know from this site I’m a member of the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers. They hold quarterly contests for wedding photography and I entered for the first time a couple of months back. 2 images, and I didn’t expect to place. The contests are open to all ISPWP members right across the world. Only the best 20 shots in each category are given placings, and when you think about the number of weddings shot over the summer, across the world, well that’s an awful lot of great photography.

Now the good news – both images placed!

This image, from Tom and Melissa’s wedding, placed 3rd in ‘Ceremony’:

The judges commented that the shot has ‘Great timing and angle, tells the story well’.

This image, from Rhia and Andy’s wedding, placed 20th in ‘First Dance’

The judges commented that the shot had a ‘great angle, love the depth to this image’.

So, well pleased with this result, especially considering the ridiculously high standard of wedding photography on display there.

Philip Smith - Hey, great shots. well done.

Gary Rogers - When I saw “20th place” I thought I had finally got something to ridicule you with! However, having looked at the other 19 shots I have to concede that it is still a terrific result.

Wedding photography has become something really inspiring and (as I have claimed before) the best photographers are producing art, not merely a record of who was there.

Congratulations, Guy.

Keily G - Won’t be the last time, I’m sure. Congratulations Guy, you deserve it. Love that ceremony shot.
