SNOW!!!! At Gate Street Barn again!!!! Ok, admittedly not as much as my last white wedding (with apologies to Mr B Idol for that one) in December 2010, but a genuinely cold winter wedding day. Honestly though, since early December last year I can’t remember what it feels like to be warm at a wedding. Watch this space in July for me moaning about the heat.
Claire and Andy then. Their day, and what a day we had. Despite the whiteness on the ground everyone made it through safely. A tremendously emotional reading from Andy’s Dad, Bill (that’s him in the kilt below). Friends from as far afield as New York, Oklahoma and Australia. Excellent speeches from Justin, the groom himself and his Best Men. Top class floristry, as always, from Gill Pike, superb food, as always, from Just Jane, and the pleasure of working with a new (to me) make-up artist, the rather lovely Alice Theobald.
I wibble on about this a lot but I’m ridiculously lucky with the weddings I get to shoot. Lovely people who just let me do my thing and trust me to get the results. I can’t ask for more than that and thank you Mr and Mrs Cormie. You absolutely smashed it out of the park yesterday, on every level. You exist entirely for each other and I love you for what you mean to each other. Your day wasn’t about the details that weddings can be lost in, it was about 2 people. That’s the essence of it right there and I was privileged to share it with you.
